[原创] 医学英语系列之》习惯语（idiom）的应用

[watermark]说到惯用语，是最难掌握的一部份，习惯用语整句的意思不是各个单字的意义的总和。也不能随意臆测，有时真的是“不可理喻”。它们不像我们的成语，出自何经何典，每句皆有其成语故事（部份惯用语也有）。它们只是约定俗成，大家惯用了就肯定了一个特定的意思。
很多学习英语的人，特别是非英语系的学生，碰到这些习用语最头痛，想查字典查不到，照字面解释对无法理解，怎么办？特别在聆听时，明明白白听懂每一个单字，就是不明的整句话说什么。当面对这样的局面时，真是尴尬非常。学习班英语的积极性也大受错折。
有见及此，我试汇编一些惯用语给大家参考，希望能对朋友们有一点稗益。我先编写一部份，看看反应，也听听你们的意见。
All at once 突然
All at once there was a loud crash.
All in 筋疲力尽
He was all in after playing tennis for four hours.
Back up 支持
Her friend back up her in the argument.
Become of 遭遇
I wonder what will become of them.
Black sheep 败类
He is the black sheep of the family.
Call for 来接(某人同赴某处)
Call for me at eight o’clock.
Catch on 理解，流行
Sorry，I don’t quite catch on your speech.
Double up 弯曲身子
He was hit by the basketball and double up with pain.
Dry up 住口
Dry up! You’ve bee talking for half hour.
Earn one’s salt 称职
Did he earn his salt last week?
Eat one’s word 收回发言，食言(不守信)
Don’t eat you word.
Fold up 生意倒闭，结业
The new restaurant folded up in less than a year.
For good 永久
He moved to US for good.
